Running Sports Day in Kempten with Record Crowds
14-year-old triumphs at Kempten LST Super Sunday
Around 2,900 people make the "LST Super Sunday" in Kempten a highly attended running event. Athletically, the victory of the only 14-year-old Natalie Rauh over 10 kilometers stands out in particular – a result that is even more remarkable in a field with adult competitors.
Big crowds in downtown Kempten
The running sports day at Residenzplatz once again proved to be a crowd-puller: Around 2,900 participants started over the various distances, joined by numerous spectators in the city center. The event was organized for the second time by the agency 808project from Burgberg.
The scale was distributed across several competitions:
- Kidsrun: around 1,000 children
- BSG-Allgäu 10,000 run: about 700 starters
- Präg 5,000 run: around 1,000 participants
According to the organizers, the numbers were significantly higher than the previous year. An event of this size running through the city center regularly means considerable coordination effort – from route planning and scheduling to barriers and coordination with the city and security forces.
The supporting program once again included the Lions Club team "Lions meets Rollies", which completed the circuit in teams of two. The focus was visibly less on times and placements and more on joint participation and lived inclusion.
Christian Schoch, designated mayor (Free Voters), was also part of the day: He gave the starting signal for the Präg 5,000 run – and combined it with a sporting bet. Whoever beat his personal best time of 19:32 minutes was to get a coffee. 64 runners managed it.
Natalie Rauh sets the athletic exclamation mark over 10 kilometers
From a sporting perspective, the women's 10-kilometer run attracted particular attention. Natalie Rauh (TV Kempten) won in 36:45 minutes. The fact that the winner is only 14 years old underscores the special quality of this achievement in a race where she prevailed against much older competition.
Behind Rauh, Vanessa Baumeister (TV Immenstadt Triathlon) finished second in 37:29 minutes and Lena Ritzel (TV Kempten) third in 38:06 minutes.
Rauh had already attracted attention in the region recently: In the Oberschwäbische Crosslaufserie, it was reported that she won all four races there and clearly decided the overall ranking of her age group for herself – an indication that the success in Kempten did not come out of nowhere, but fits into a stable form curve.
Men over 10 kilometers
In the men's 10,000 meters, Rene Huonker (TSV Dietmannsried 1905) prevailed in 32:06 minutes. Second was Simon Pulfer (Allgäu Outlet Raceteam) in 32:20 minutes, third place went to Finn Sattler (RSC Auto Brosch Kempten) in 33:06 minutes.
The strong regional character of the results remained striking: With only one exception, the podium places went to athletes from the Allgäu – a signal for the breadth and depth of performance in the running and triathlon scene in the region.
The winners over 5,000 meters and the team ranking
Fast times were also run over 5,000 meters.
Among the men, Levin Saveur (LG Stadtwerke München) won in 14:53 minutes ahead of Johannes Wachter (Allgäu Outlet Raceteam, 15:32) and Tim Wenisch (TSV Dietmannsried 1905, 15:41).
Among the women, Elena Beuckmann (TSV Oberstdorf) won in 18:35 minutes. Annchristin Huonker (TSV Dietmannsried 1905) also finished in 18:35 minutes, Charlotte Heim (Allgäu Outlet Raceteam) followed very closely in 18:36 minutes.
In the team ranking, RSC Auto Brosch Kempten prevailed. Second place went to TV Kempten 1, third place to TSV Dietmannsried 1905.
The "LST Super Sunday" thus confirmed its status as a widely supported running event in Kempten: high participant numbers, noticeable response in the city center, and strong athletic results – with an extraordinary exclamation mark set by the 14-year-old winner over 10 kilometers.
