Michlhof Kempten | Wedding & Prices

The Michlhof in Kempten combines the charm of a traditional Allgäu farmhouse with the possibilities of a modern event location. Outside, the ensemble appears traditional and embedded in greenery; inside, you will find authentic rooms with wood, visible beams, and plenty of daylight. The farm is located on the outskirts of Kempten in the nature reserve Stadtweiher and is easily accessible by car as well as public transport. Just a few minutes by car away is the Hotel Waldhorn, which serves as the main house and is reachable in about 2 minutes by car or around 10 minutes on foot. For weddings, corporate events, and conferences, the Michlstube on the ground floor, the adjacent Heuberstube as a bar area, and the event barn on the upper floor with a spacious garden are combined. Outdoor ceremonies, aperitifs under trees, celebrations with regional cuisine, professional technology, and friendly service: The Michlhof is exclusively bookable, offers tranquility in nature, and at the same time short distances to the city. Around 40 parking spaces are available on-site; all areas are wheelchair accessible. Typical events include private parties, corporate celebrations, and creative conferences, occasionally also cultural evenings such as Wirtshauskrimi or Magic Dinner Show.

Weddings at Michlhof Kempten: Prices, Capacity, and Process

The Michlhof specializes in weddings and offers coherent processes from the entrance in the garden to the party in the barn. The green outdoor area can be used for the ceremony: An outdoor wedding in the garden is planned as well as the aperitif on warm days in the open air. The entrance to the farm with the original fountain provides a photogenic welcome, and the cozy Fillebänkle invites you to arrive. After the ceremony, snacks, cakes, and the wedding cake are often served, traditionally provided by the Zuckerfheel bakery. For the festive meal, the kitchen of Hotel Waldhorn supplies regional and seasonal compositions, which can be served as a menu or buffet. The celebration then takes place in the barn or in the Michlstube, depending on the number of guests – music, lighting, and dancing until after midnight included.

What does a wedding at Michlhof cost? There is deliberately no rigid package list. Instead, a room rental-service flat rate is calculated individually: It depends on the type of celebration, number of guests, date or day of the week, duration, and the chosen catering. According to the documents, included are, among other things, free parking directly at the house, all ancillary costs, a set table with cloth napkins, additionally white table linen in the barn, candlesticks or candle holders with real wax candles, standing tables with covers, the house sound system with microphone in all rooms, individually controllable LED lighting technology, and the final cleaning of the location. Generally, two hours are available for setup and decoration; for weddings, an early start on the wedding day is possible from 10 a.m. The regular rental time usually ranges from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.; for an additional fee, the celebration can be extended. Maximum work can be done at the farm until 3:00 a.m., allowing musicians, decoration, and family to dismantle by then. Those using the barn benefit additionally from a high-performance projector and a four-meter-wide screen – ideal for personal films, slide shows, or live broadcasts of speeches.

Capacity and room choice are clearly defined: The event barn is suitable for 80 to 160 people and measures about 225 square meters; the seating can provide up to 160 places in rows, with individual tables up to 120 or in square groupings also up to 120. The Michlstube on the ground floor accommodates celebrations for up to about 100 people; with its wooden paneling, windows, and direct access to the Heuberstube, it feels particularly cozy. Thanks to the elevator and level access, all guests can participate barrier-free – a real plus for intergenerational weddings. For overnight stays, the nearby Hotel Waldhorn is recommended, which is logistically closely connected to the Michlhof.

Directions and Parking at Michlhof Kempten

The Michlhof is located at Ober'm Stadtweiher 36, 87435 Kempten in the Allgäu. The name is also the program: The farm is located directly at the Stadtweiher, in a protected green area on the edge of the city. This location brings tranquility, space outdoors, and a nature-friendly atmosphere without sacrificing urban accessibility. Those arriving by car can use the private access to the farm and park conveniently directly on the premises. About 40 parking spaces are available in the on-site parking lot – sufficient for the typical number of guests at a wedding or corporate event. The entrance area is spaciously designed, allowing buses or shuttle vehicles to stop briefly and let passengers comfortably board and alight. For persons with limited mobility, access is continuously organized to be barrier-free, and the barn on the upper floor can also be reached either by elevator or through the garden.

For guests wishing to arrive by public transport, the Michlhof is, according to the operator, easily accessible by both car and public transport. After the celebration, the paths to accommodations are short: The Hotel Waldhorn is located at Steufzgen 80, about two minutes away by car; on foot, the distance can be covered in approximately ten minutes. This proximity facilitates evening logistics, such as when older guests leave early or when the couple prefers a house for getting ready and later overnight stay. From the terrace and the garden, it is just a short walk to viewpoints where the Allgäu mountain panorama can be seen – according to the operator, about a five-minute walk. This makes it easy for photo shoots to quickly transition from the ceremony to the panorama change. For first-time navigators, remember: The entrance is signposted, leads directly to the farm, and the tastefully designed entrance with fountain begins the experience.

Rooms, Floor Plan, and Equipment: Michlstube, Heuberstube, and Barn

The Michlhof offers three core areas that can be flexibly combined: the Michlstube on the ground floor, the Heuberstube as an adjacent bar area, and the event barn on the upper floor. The Michlstube has evolved from a former stable and has retained its Allgäu parlor character: lots of wood, a homely light, short paths to the garden. It accommodates celebrations for up to about 100 people and is suitable for banquets, birthdays, or the festive table for smaller to medium-sized weddings due to its floor space. Directly connected is the Heuberstube, which serves as a bar and lounge area, condensing conversations and supporting the evening's dramaturgy as a separate room. On the upper floor lies the barn – the star for large gatherings. The visible roof beams span a characterful space of about 18 by 12.5 meters; thus, a total area of about 225 square meters is created.

In the barn, different seating arrangements are possible, allowing you to reflect your own dramaturgy from reception to party. Table rows offer up to 160 seats, individual tables and squares can accommodate up to about 120 people. For conferences or ceremonies in theater arrangement, the barn allows cinema seating for up to 160 people; for workshops or presentations, parliamentary seating for up to about 50 people and U-shaped arrangements for around 35 people are provided. All rooms are connected to the house sound system; a microphone is available, ensuring that speeches, addresses, or even the moderation of games are well audible. The LED lighting technology can be color-adjusted to harmoniously illuminate your wedding color scheme, corporate branding, or themed evenings. For media content, there is a high-performance projector and a four-meter-wide screen in the barn – strong enough for films, slideshows, or live feeds, without needing to rent additional equipment.

Accessibility is consistently considered. Thanks to the elevator and garden path, all levels are easily accessible for wheelchair users. Practical for planning: The entire outdoor area, including the garden, is included in the use; the exclusive occupancy of the area ensures that only your group celebrates at the farm. This creates a private setting where children can play, couples can catch their breath in the garden, and photos can be taken in a relaxed manner. If you want to manage guest flows, you can divide the evening into sequences: reception in the Michlstube, dinner in the barn, cocktails in the Heuberstube, dancing on the upper floor. The Michlhof supports this choreography with short paths and sensible transitions between rooms, which work smoothly even with 150 or more people.

Food, Menu, and Partners: Waldhorn Kitchen and Zuckerfheel

The kitchen of Hotel Waldhorn is the culinary backbone of the Michlhof. Instead of a fixed restaurant menu for daily operations, there are buffet and menu suggestions for celebrations that are seasonally and regionally accented. This keeps the offer flexible and appropriate for the occasion – from rustic Allgäu classics to elegant courses for a festive dinner. The documents also list numerous aperitif variations: sparkling wine, seccos, spritz drinks like Hugo, Aperol, or Lillet Wild Berry, as well as specially mixed variants with regional syrups, such as elderflower syrup. For hearty finger food, quiches, topped snacks, and small Allgäu specialties are suggested; sweet pastries range from fruit tarts to macarons to cake pops. If you prefer even more variety, you can choose coordinated aperitif pastry packages that combine savory and sweet.

Regarding drinks, the Michlhof relies on transparent billing: Typically, all drinks are charged based on consumption. The offer includes regional beers like Meckatzer Hell and wheat, lighter mixed beers, non-alcoholic options, juice spritzers, soft drinks, mineral water, and energy drinks. Lovers of the Allgäu Festival Week will be pleased with 4 Spurige, a local wine spritzer cult drink offered through Waldhorn. The wine list includes German, Austrian, Italian, and French selections at hospitable price levels; for the coffee and dessert part, cappuccino, espresso, latte macchiato, hot chocolate, and various teas are available. For the wedding cake, the Michlhof collaborates with Zuckerfheel, a bakery that designs individual cakes from cinnamon roll hearts to macaron towers. This way, the celebration combines the artisanal signature of local partners with the culinary expertise of the main house.

Technically, the Michlhof is well equipped. In addition to the house sound system with microphone and controllable LED lighting, the barn offers a powerful projector and a four-meter screen. This facilitates the integration of photo sequences, video clips, charts, or live communication. For conferences, classic setups like U-shape or parliamentary seating are planned, along with breakout options in the Michlstube or in the garden. If you want to personalize the celebration, you can integrate logos, color codes, and projected monograms; the room architecture with wood and beams always creates a warm basic atmosphere.

Photos and Impressions: This is what Michlhof in Kempten looks like

The first impression is already created outside: An entrance to the farm with an original fountain, gravel areas, and lovingly landscaped greenery frames the path to the door. The Fillebänkle at the entrance humorously shows where coziness resides in the Allgäu. Inside the Michlstube, wood dominates – floors, paneling, details. Here, natural, timeless images emerge, where cloth napkins, candlelight, and floral arrangements become visible without the architecture competing for attention. The adjacent Heuberstube sets accents as a bar and lounge area: Here, atmospheric close-ups of glasses, conversations, and spontaneous moments succeed. Those capturing light moods in the afternoon can use the window areas and the view into the greenery for soft portraits.

On the upper floor, the barn opens up with its visible beams. The wood, in conjunction with modern lighting technology, creates a stage that can be quickly transformed: romantic in pastel colors for the opening dance, contrasting for the party, bright and clear for speeches or presentations. Thanks to the projector and large screen, the areas are also suitable for films and live images. Outside, the garden provides further motifs: The stream, fed by a house spring, babbles over stones, trees provide shade, and on mild evenings, the aperitif can be enjoyed directly outdoors. For the couple's shoot or group photos, it is just a short walk to viewpoints with the Allgäu mountain panorama. This allows for different image worlds to be realized in a short time without keeping the group waiting long.

For those wanting to get an impression of the real wedding process at Michlhof, regularly published photo reports by Allgäu photographers are available. Documented are real celebrations along with details such as cake, decoration, speeches, and dancing – a valuable source of inspiration for your own planning. The popularity of the location among couples is reflected in the numerous positive voices: the harmonious atmosphere, reliable organization, quality of food, and friendly, attentive service are repeatedly praised. This feedback aligns with the aspirations of the operator team around the Heel family, who manage the farm with warmth and professionalism.

Frequent Confusions: Michlhof Oberostendorf and Holiday Apartments vs. Michlhof Kempten

In search engines, alongside Michlhof Kempten, other results appear that sound similar but concern different businesses. Most commonly, the Michlhof in Oberostendorf in Ostallgäu is meant. This farm is operated independently from the Kempten Michlhof, offers holiday apartments, a bakery for bread baking experiences, and animal farm impressions. The address is Am Hühnerbach 2, 86869 Oberostendorf. This explains why search terms like michlhof bread baking or michlhof – holiday apartments and corresponding photos circulate on the internet: They refer to Oberostendorf, not to the event location in Kempten. Also related to the name are other farms or estates in southern Germany and Austria, such as in Haitzing. For event guests, clear attribution is important: If you are planning a wedding, corporate event, or conference in the city of Kempten, you mean the Michlhof at Ober'm Stadtweiher 36 with Michlstube, Heuberstube, barn, garden, and the culinary connection to Hotel Waldhorn.

The Michlhof Kempten belongs to Heel GmbH. It is designed as an event location and is exclusively rented for closed events. This also explains why there is no classic restaurant menu for daily public operations; instead, the Waldhorn kitchen provides tailored menus and buffets for each event. Those searching for michlhof menu will find examples of food sequences and drink selections as well as information on conditions in the celebration brochure. Those entering michlhof photos will see both images from Kempten and from Oberostendorf; the sure way is to check the image sources against the respective address. This distinction helps avoid misunderstandings, calculate budgets cleanly, and increase anticipation for the right location.

Also, when it comes to event announcements, checking the address is sensible. Cultural evenings such as the Wirtshauskrimi or the Magic Dinner Show are communicated for Kempten at Ober'm Stadtweiher; the news runs through the channels of Hotel Waldhorn and the Michlhof page. Dates like the end of January 2026 are an example of how the barn temporarily becomes a stage, while on other weekends weddings or corporate anniversaries take place. This variety is possible because the location is modularly thought out: Michlstube and Heuberstube for reception and lounge, barn as a festive hall, garden as a summer living room – all embedded in a farm that offers tranquility and is also professionally equipped.

My wife and I can only echo the extremely good and positive reviews. We celebrated at Michlhof in October 2025 with about 100 guests. The collaboration (consultation, planning, menu selection, decoration) and ultimately the service as well as the quality of the food were outstanding. The location and the food were particularly praised by all our guests. And for us as a couple, the big advantage was not having to worry about drinks/service/food on the wedding day, eliminating that potential stress factor. In short, we were absolutely thrilled and can highly recommend Michlhof and the team around Thomas and Daniel.

Michlhof in Kempten is really a great place! The quality of the food is excellent and absolutely convincing in taste. You can tell that they value fresh ingredients and loving preparation here. The staff was also really top-notch – friendly, attentive, and always with a smile. You feel well taken care of and welcomed. The only small criticism: the prices are definitely on the higher side. For what is offered, it's still reasonable, but a bit more expensive than expected. Overall, a great visit – highly recommended if you appreciate quality and are willing to pay a bit more.

Dream location for a wedding! 💍 We can highly recommend Michlhof – we celebrated a dream wedding here in September :) We received the important information we needed super quickly after our first inquiry and were able to schedule a viewing appointment on-site promptly. During the viewing, it quickly became clear to us: The location is perfect for weddings – everything was thought of. There’s a beautiful garden for outdoor ceremonies & the champagne reception, as well as an alternative for bad weather downstairs. Due to rain, our champagne reception also took place here and it was perfect. For the meal and the celebration, we then went upstairs and this location is just stunningly beautiful. The support before the wedding was incredibly good. Many questions could be discussed easily via email, and feedback usually came within a few hours, but always within a day at the latest. The service on the wedding day was truly excellent! Daniel always kept an eye on us, provided us with our favorite drinks, pointed out the schedule, and made sure everything went according to plan. The guests were also thrilled by how quick and efficient the service was. The food was also excellent and received a lot of praise from the guests. The roast beef is an absolute recommendation! Dear Daniel, dear Thomas & dear Michlhof team, thank you for making our day so perfect! ☺️ Verena & André

We got married at Michlhof in July and everything was perfect from start to finish. We already had a very good feeling during the preparation meetings for the celebration, felt very well taken care of, and we were not disappointed: The service was absolutely top-notch (our guests also gave us consistently positive feedback), the food was spot on, the staff was very friendly, extremely attentive, and super quick. The tables were also tidied up again late at night, with water and fresh glasses provided. Michlhof is a dream location, perfectly situated and offers a wonderful outdoor experience. We would 100% recommend Michlhof. It couldn’t have been better for us, and it was definitely worth the money! Huge thanks to the entire team who made our day so perfect! :)
