FC Kempten at Illerstadion: Home Matches, Games, and Current Dates

The Illerstadion is explicitly described as the home of FC Kempten on the official club website. That is why terms like FC Kempten Illerstadion, Illerstadion Kempten games, and Illerstadion Kempten today are so closely linked to the stadium: when visiting the club, one usually ends up directly at this venue. The club's homepage prominently features current news, match reports, and the games section, showing that the club continuously informs its fans and guests about ongoing match operations. Therefore, anyone wishing to attend a match should check the club's current entries instead of relying on old dates. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/illerstadion/?utm_source=openai))

This topic is particularly relevant because the Illerstadion is not only used for regular league operations. FC Kempten publishes reports on home matches, test matches, and current games there, showing that the stadium is a lively venue with regular operations. When using the search term Illerstadion Kempten today, it usually involves the simple question of whether there is a match, training, or event on the day of the visit. For visitors, this means: the stadium is not a museum and not a static place, but an active sports center whose daily program results from the club's and match schedule. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/?utm_source=openai))

Another important point for keyword analysis is the tournament and youth profile of the club. FC Kempten uses the Illerstadion not only for its home matches but also for youth and club events such as the Sozialbau Cup or the Allgäuer Brauhaus Cup. According to the club's report, over 1,300 children and young people from 110 teams of 61 clubs attended the Sozialbau Cup 2025; the tournament has been announced again for 2026 at the Illerstadion. Address, Directions, and Parking at Illerstadion Kempten

The location of the Illerstadion is one of its greatest practical advantages. It is located at Illerdamm 10 in Kempten (Allgäu) and is described by the city as being close to the center. This makes the facility easily accessible and also anchored in close proximity to other urban traffic and recreational areas. For visitors searching for Illerstadion Kempten address or Illerstadion Kempten directions, this central location is an important plus point because it makes orientation easier and integrates the stadium into the everyday life of the city. The official classification as one of the most important sports facilities in Kempten makes it clear that the place plays a role not only for the club but for the entire city structure. Therefore, anyone planning a stadium visit should consider the Illerdamm as a central access and orientation axis. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/illerstadion/?utm_source=openai))

The official access instructions are clearly structured and therefore particularly helpful. For men's matches, access is via the Illerdamm at the grandstand building, including a kiosk and access to the changing rooms. For youth matches, the club asks guest teams to gather in the youth area at the changing room building Jahnweg near the clubhouse. This distinction is practically important because it gives visitors and guest teams a clear picture of where they need to go on match days. Especially for those visiting the Illerstadion for the first time, this helps avoid detours and find the right entrance more quickly. For search queries like Illerstadion Kempten today or Illerstadion Kempten opening hours, this information is valuable because it shows that the visit is organized differently depending on the occasion. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/illerstadion/?utm_source=openai))

Regarding parking, the club also provides clear information: there are sufficient parking options around the stadium, but the car parking spaces at Illerdamm are public and therefore subject to fees. Free bus parking spaces are available directly at the stadium, and reservations are not possible. This combination is relevant for individual visitors, families, team buses, and club groups alike. Therefore, those arriving by car should plan enough time for parking; those coming by bus or larger vehicles benefit from the bus spaces available directly at the stadium. In practice, this means: arrive early, pay attention to the signage, and do not start the stadium visit at the last minute. The quiet, centrally located area with public parking makes the Illerstadion a well-calculated destination. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/illerstadion/?utm_source=openai))

Capacity, Grandstand, and Facilities of the Stadium

With an official capacity of about 9,000 spectators, the Illerstadion is one of the larger sports facilities in the region. The grandstand solution is particularly important: according to city documents, the facility has 720 covered seats. For visitors, this means that there are not only standing or open areas in the stadium but also a protected spectator area that provides a real comfort gain during weather changes. The capacity figure is not just a number for statistics enthusiasts but also helps in the classification of matches, tournaments, and larger events. Those searching for Illerstadion Kempten capacity receive a clear answer: the stadium is large enough for major sporting events while retaining its local, approachable character. ([ratsinfo.kempten.de](https://ratsinfo.kempten.de/bi/getfile.php?id=56428&type=do))

The facilities of the site show that the Illerstadion is designed as a multifunctional sports facility. In addition to the actual stadium with natural grass, there is a tartan running track with adjacent uses such as long jump, high jump, shot put, and basketball. This combination makes the facility interesting not only for football but also for athletics. At the same time, city documents document several training playing fields: a natural grass field in the north with floodlights, an artificial turf field in the west, and two small playing fields with tartan surfaces in the southwest. Additionally, there are access areas, a grandstand in the training area, the forecourt of the clubhouse, and access to changing rooms and sanitary facilities. For visitors, this means an environment that goes well beyond a single playing field and meets the requirements of club sports and school operations. ([ratsinfo.kempten.de](https://ratsinfo.kempten.de/bi/getfile.php?id=56428&type=do))

The green spaces and the structural design also play a role. The city describes the tree population, shrub areas, and grass areas as part of the overall facility and refers to ball-catching fences and enclosures that belong to the stadium grounds. At the same time, the documents make it clear that large parts of the playing fields and access areas are worn out due to age and need to be modernized in the long term. This explains why the Illerstadion has repeatedly been the subject of municipal renovation and enhancement measures in recent years. For users, this combination is important: the stadium has grown historically, is functionally versatile, and is still in transition. Therefore, those searching online for Illerstadion Kempten grandstand or Illerstadion Kempten capacity should always see the facility as a living sports center with several sub-areas. ([ratsinfo.kempten.de](https://ratsinfo.kempten.de/bi/getfile.php?id=56428&type=do))

History of the Illerstadion and Development Since 1953

The Illerstadion has a long history. On the official club website, it is described as inaugurated on August 16, 1953. This means that the tradition of the facility goes back a long way and explains why the stadium is more than just a sports venue for many Kempteners. The combination of history, central location, and ongoing use gives this place its special charm. Today, when one enters the stadium, they are not only moving on a current playing field but on a facility with several decades of city and sports history. For search queries related to Illerstadion Kempten opening hours or Illerstadion Kempten today, this historical perspective is interesting because it shows how deeply the stadium is rooted in club life. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/illerstadion/?utm_source=openai))

In the 1990s and around the turn of the millennium, the stadium was further developed several times. According to FC Kempten, the playing field and the tartan track were renovated in 1995. In 1999/2000, a new grandstand was built, which celebrated its premiere on July 29, 2000, with a 1:0 victory in the Bayern League match against FC Memmingen. These dates mark an important phase in which an older sports facility became a more modern, efficient venue. The new grandstand not only brought additional spectator quality but also a visible architectural enhancement of the entire stadium. Historically interesting is that the renovation not only had a cosmetic effect but strengthened the function of the place as the club's home. Those asking about the development of the Illerstadion will find the key milestones here. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/illerstadion/?utm_source=openai))

In recent years, the stadium has remained a topic of municipal planning. The city of Kempten presented a comprehensive concept for the renovation of the sports facilities in the Illerstadion in 2022 and described the facility as one of the most important sports facilities in the city. Among other things, the running track, athletics facilities, grandstand areas, training fields, and green structures were considered. In 2025, the renovation of the artificial turf field in the Illerstadion was also documented, as well as the reconstruction of the northern grass field with new ball-catching fences and a floodlight system. These measures show that the stadium is not standing still but is gradually adapting to today's requirements. The history of the Illerstadion is therefore not only a look back at 1953 or 2000 but also an ongoing narrative of preservation, modernization, and use. ([ratsinfo.kempten.de](https://ratsinfo.kempten.de/bi/vo0050.php?__kvonr=7636))

Use for Youth, Athletics, American Football, and School Sports

The Illerstadion is a true multipurpose stadium. The city of Kempten explicitly names it as the venue for FC Kempten and the Allgäu Comets; additionally, the sports facilities are used by ten Kempten schools for school sports. Thus, the facility is much more than just a stage for a single team. It connects club sports, youth promotion, and school use in a common space. This diversity also explains why the stadium frequently appears in municipal meetings, renovation concepts, and club announcements. Those interested in Illerstadion Kempten games will quickly discover that not only football is played here, but various sports and forms of use coexist. The athletics areas with running tracks, jumping, and throwing areas further emphasize this character. ([ratsinfo.kempten.de](https://ratsinfo.kempten.de/bi/getfile.php?id=56428&type=do))

The importance in the youth sector becomes particularly visible. FC Kempten regularly uses the stadium for youth matches and youth tournaments. According to the club's report, over 1,300 children and young people attended the Illerstadion for the Sozialbau Cup 2025, spread across 110 teams from 61 clubs; the tournament has been announced again for 2026. Such events show that the stadium is not only important for men's football on weekends but also provides a platform for young players. The youth area gains its own structure through the clear access situation at Jahnweg, which is organizationally helpful for tournaments and match days. Therefore, those searching for Illerstadion Kempten youth matches will find a location that takes youth work seriously and represents it spatially and organizationally in a clean manner. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/save-the-date-sozialbau-cup-2025/?utm_source=openai))

As an event venue, the Illerstadion also fulfills an important function. The Allgäuer Brauhaus Cup was held there, and the club's website shows that sponsorship, tournament inquiries, and match day sponsors are closely linked to stadium operations. This speaks to a vibrant event structure that goes far beyond the pure league match day. Those looking for a location with a sporting character, local ties, and flexible use will find a suitable example here. The stadium thus serves simultaneously as the club's home, as a training venue, as a school location, and as a stage for youth and tournament events. This multipurpose use is one of the reasons why the Illerstadion holds such a high status in Kempten. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/allgaeuer-brauhaus-cup/?utm_source=openai))

Fixed Opening Hours, Visiting Tips, and Practical Information

Those searching for Illerstadion Kempten opening hours should know: the club's website does not list fixed public opening hours like a museum or a permanent exhibition. The stadium is primarily a sports facility whose access is determined by match, training, and tournament operations. Practically, this means: before a visit, it is always worthwhile to check the current announcements and match information from FC Kempten. The latest dates, reports, and notes on ongoing club activities appear there. For spontaneous visits, this information is particularly important because it directly indicates whether there is a home match, youth tournament, or other event on a given day. The search combination Illerstadion Kempten today makes it clear that many users are looking not only for the address but especially for the day's current information. ([fc-ke.de](https://fc-ke.de/illerstadion/?utm_source=openai))

For a relaxed stadium visit, it is advisable to arrive early and pay attention to the official access instructions. Men's matches are accessed via the entrance at Illerdamm, youth matches via the area at Jahnweg. Those arriving by car should plan for the paid public parking spaces around the stadium; free parking spaces for buses are available directly at the stadium. Since reservations are not possible, a certain time buffer is especially sensible for larger matches or tournaments. The central location in Kempten helps with orientation but does not replace good planning. By considering these points, visitors will experience the Illerstadion as an uncomplicated, well-structured, and versatile sports location with real Allgäu character. We were with #Bigfoot at this awesome little stadium for a tournament. The grandstand alone and the well-stocked kiosk with bratwurst and beer were fantastic. And then there was the match between FC Augsburg and Leicester City FC... this is soccer!!! With the parking lot and a playground across the street, the small stadium really looks great. But as beautiful as it is, the blue running track does make the distance to the soccer pitch quite a bit longer. On the bright side, it can also be used for an athletics festival. Besides the large grass pitch in front of the grandstand, there's also a natural grass pitch at the back left behind the wall where matches were played. By the way, there was a stand for fresh Allgäu beer and barbecues set up to the left of the stands. The toilets were surprisingly clean given the large crowd. And the dedication of the parents on site was amazing! Also, the participant field was really well filled. That made the long journey and early wake-up totally worth it. Thanks and hope to see you again next year at the Home of FC Kempten :)
