DAV Alpin Center swoboda alpin | Prices & Opening Hours
The DAV Alpin Center swoboda alpin is much more than just a climbing gym for Kempten and the Allgäu: It is the central meeting point for climbers, bouldering fans, courses, meetings, and small events. The Allgäu-Kempten section describes the facility itself as their "hut in the city." Since its opening in 2017, after more than five years of planning and construction, the location at Aybühlweg 69 brings together many activities under one roof: sports, organization, gastronomy, and community. With 2100 m² of climbing area indoor & outdoor, the center caters to beginners as well as performance-oriented climbers. This mix makes the place highly relevant for searches like photos, tickets, reviews, opening hours, and directions, as here not only is training done, but also eating, learning, and spending time together. The existing visitor reactions also reflect this: the large outdoor area, interesting boulders, and friendly atmosphere are repeatedly highlighted positively. Opening Hours, Prices, and Tickets at swoboda alpin
Those looking for tickets for swoboda alpin will find a clearly structured entry system in practice. Officially, there are single entries, 10-visit cards, 25-visit cards, and annual passes, each with different prices for section members, DAV members, and non-members. Particularly convenient for early training times: holders of value cards like annual passes, 10-visit cards, or 25-visit cards can use the climbing and bouldering area starting at 6 AM. The regular opening hours are generous and make the gym attractive not only for after-work sessions but also for weekend visits. Monday to Friday, the facility is open until 10:30 PM, on Saturday until 10:30 PM as well, and on Sundays and public holidays until 9 PM. During the Bavarian holidays, operations start as early as 9 AM. This makes swoboda alpin suitable for regular training as well as spontaneous visits after school, work, or mountain tours. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/oeffnungszeiten-preise-formulare))
The pricing structure is also clearly aimed at different user groups. Children under 6 years have free entry when accompanied by a paying adult, and there are special rates for teenagers, children, and families. The official pricing structure makes it clear that the center aims to promote member retention while also allowing open use for guests. In addition to classic day tickets, multi-visit cards and annual passes are particularly interesting for people who want to climb or boulder more frequently. This is complemented by the office in the building, which is staffed from Monday to Friday and assists with questions about membership, offers, or organizational topics. So, those looking for swoboda alpin tickets will find here not an event pass, but a sports-oriented entry and pricing world with clear opening hours, planable off-peak times, and transparent conditions. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/oeffnungszeiten-preise-formulare))
Directions, Parking, and Public Transport
The approach to swoboda alpin is pleasantly uncomplicated for visitors, as the gym is located at a well-known landmark: opposite the leisure pool CamboMare. Those arriving by car can simply follow the signposted swimming pool symbols in Kempten and drive directly to Aybühlweg 69. Particularly attractive is the parking situation on-site, as there are free parking spaces directly in front of the building. For a location that attracts families, beginners, and regular training guests, this is an important advantage. Especially for last-minute visits, picking up children from courses, or evening training, the parking situation saves time and effort. The location opposite the well-known pool also makes the site easy to find, even for people who do not know Kempten daily. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/oeffnungszeiten-preise-formulare))
Even without a car, the DAV Alpin Center swoboda alpin is easily accessible. The official information mentions bus lines 2, 7, R7, and 200, which connect the gym with public transport. This makes the location practically connected for everyday traffic in Kempten as well as for visitors from the surrounding area. For SEO inquiries regarding directions and parking, this combination is relevant: clear address, known landmark, free parking spaces, and public transport connection. Therefore, first-time visitors to swoboda alpin do not have to search long or plan complicated routes. This makes the location attractive for sports groups, families, and corporate visits, especially since the gym is also used as a meeting point for courses, tour discussions, and events. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/oeffnungszeiten-preise-formulare))
Climbing and Bouldering on 2100 m² at the DAV Alpin Center
The sporting core of swoboda alpin is the large climbing and bouldering area, which, according to the official description, extends over 2100 m² indoor and outdoor. What is special about it is the range: the facility is explicitly aimed at beginners as well as competitive climbers. This openness is important because it makes the center a true all-round place for mountain sports. Those just starting out will find suitable routes just as much as those who train regularly and seek a high variety of movement. The section even states on its website that there is a suitable route for every climbing ability. In addition, there is the bouldering world, where creative movement tasks and technical moves are in the foreground. This is ideal for short training sessions, for tinkering with friends, or for the first contact with climbing without a rope. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/klettern-bouldern))
The self-understanding of the gym also fits this mix of sport and everyday life. The section points out that swoboda alpin, as a "Smart Gym," is part of the Vertical-Life family, which underscores the impression of a modern organized climbing facility. For guests, this means above all: Here, not only is a wall provided, but a systematically supervised training place with current route offerings and an active community. This helps a lot in external perception because people searching for photos or reviews often expect exactly this impression: a lively place where different target groups meet. The swoboda alpin fulfills this expectation with a combination of gym, outdoor area, bouldering options, and a clear focus on versatile training. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/))
Courses, Safety, and Rental Equipment for Beginners and Families
For many visitors, the path to swoboda alpin does not begin with free training, but with a course. The DAV climbing school offers courses for people who simply want to try it out, as well as for families or advanced climbers who want to work on technique and safety. This is particularly important for a location with a strong regional catchment area, as climbing and bouldering are not only considered competitive sports here but also as accessible leisure activities. Those who are new will find structured and safe ways to get to know the sport through courses. Those with experience can specifically work on movement or safety topics. This creates a low-threshold access that makes the gym attractive for beginners while not losing sight of advanced climbers. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/oeffnungszeiten-preise-formulare))
Additionally, there is a practical advantage that many seekers particularly appreciate when researching tickets, courses, or reviews: the complete indoor climbing equipment can be rented on-site for a fee, without prior reservation. This is convenient for spontaneous visits, for children's birthdays, for family outings, and for guests who do not yet own their own equipment. At the same time, the official site clearly points out that prior knowledge or a course is a mandatory requirement for climbing with a rope. Thus, the safety concept is clear and comprehensible. It is supplemented by gym rules, safety instructions, and special forms for minors. For parents, school groups, and clubs, this is a real plus, as the visit can be well prepared and the use of the gym is clearly regulated. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/oeffnungszeiten-preise-formulare))
Alpin Center, Gastronomy, and Seminar Room as Meeting Point
swoboda alpin sees itself not only as a sports facility but explicitly as a meeting point. The Allgäu-Kempten section describes the Alpin Center as a place for climbers, boulderers, course participants, bikers, walkers, and regulars. This openness is a central feature of the location as it breaks the typical narrowness of a pure sports hall. Instead, a lively multipurpose place emerges where people can spend time even without a climbing harness. According to the official description, the heart of the facility is the dining area, where visitors meet after the tour discussions, after climbing, or simply in the evening. This gives the term "hut in the city" a very concrete meaning: mountain sports, encounters, and breaks belong together here. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/alpinzentrum))
For events, the seminar room is particularly relevant. The official site explains that it can also be rented for external events, training sessions, and similar formats. The room is equipped with a permanently installed projector, as well as flipcharts, pinboards, moderation cases, tables, chairs, and, if desired, decoration and catering. Additionally, climbing trainers and rental equipment can be organized for active breaks or a sporty seminar conclusion. This makes swoboda alpin interesting for companies, clubs, and educational institutions looking for an unusual yet functional event venue. This fits with the gastronomy at s'Biwak, which, according to the website, offers changing daily specials and classic break options like coffee and cake in addition to the regular menu. So, those looking for a location that combines sports, seminars, and catering will find a rare mix here. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/alpinzentrum))
Another highlight is the via ferrata Adlersteig inside the building. According to the official description, it not only offers the opportunity to train climbing movements indoors but also provides the best view over the entire gym. This is particularly appealing for guests as it makes the building experienceable from a new perspective and enhances the experience character. For people searching for photos or special impressions, this mix is interesting: dining area, seminar room, via ferrata, and training areas create different perspectives and usage types. Thus, a climbing gym becomes a versatile house for mountain sports and encounters that goes far beyond the classic gym concept. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/alpinzentrum/klettersteig-adlersteig?utm_source=openai))
History, Competitions, and Special Impressions from the Location
The history of swoboda alpin does not begin with the first climbing hold but with a longer planning phase. According to the official history of the Allgäu-Kempten section, swoboda alpin was opened in 2017 along with the adjacent Bike Garden after more than five years of planning and construction. This also explains why the facility was intended from the beginning as a comprehensive center and not just as a simple sports hall. It fits into a long section history in which climbing, training, youth work, and alpine engagement have played an important role for decades. For seekers looking for background, history, or context, this is a significant point: swoboda alpin is not a randomly created individual project, but a strategically developed location with a clear function for the section and the region. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/ueber-uns/historie?utm_source=openai))
The gym also has a visible profile in the competition area. The official website mentions several formats, including the Allgäu Climbing Cup, which has been held since 1989, as well as the Allgäu Moves, which has developed into one of the largest climbing competitions in Germany with over 300 participants. Additionally, there are formats for younger target groups, such as the SMOVE Kids Boulder Challenge. This shows how broad the spectrum is: from youth to performance-oriented scenes. So, those looking for events, programs, or current competitions will find in swoboda alpin a place where community, performance, and youth regularly come together. The gym is thus not only a training place but also a stage for regional mountain sports. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/klettern-bouldern/wettkaempfe/allgaeuer-klettercup?utm_source=openai))
In the end, the image that resonates in many visitor reactions emerges: a spacious, modern, yet down-to-earth center with a strong Allgäu connection. The large outdoor area, the friendly atmosphere, the mix of climbing, bouldering, eating, and meeting, as well as the uncomplicated accessibility make swoboda alpin a fixed point for many people. Those searching for photos, tickets, reviews, or practical information receive not only data but a very rounded overall impression. This connection of sport, service, and meeting point character is the actual uniqueness of the location. ([dav-kempten.de](https://www.dav-kempten.de/swoboda-alpin/klettern-bouldern))

Okay but also expensive climbing gym. Just tested the boulder area though. Had a few interesting hard boulders and many easy ones. The intermediate level is lacking creativity though. Also it doesn't seem like the routes are re-setted regularly. The sport climbing area seemed nice though, can't say anything about the routes. Overall it seems like they are focusing on families.

Haven't seen the inside, although I've been told its awesome. The part of this complex that I've had happy hours with is the free bike garden. It's not very large, but its completely enough to give mountainbiking a try and have some fun doing it. Bike park includes a tiny and a medium drop, a path of rocks, two kickers and some waves for riding.
