bigBOX ALLGÄU | Program & Tickets
The bigBOX ALLGÄU is the cultural and event heart in the center of Kempten. Since its opening on October 10, 2003, the multifunctional hall has developed into one of the leading addresses for live entertainment in southern Germany. Its central location on Kotterner Straße, right next to the Forum Allgäu shopping center, ensures short distances, excellent accessibility by car, train, and bus, as well as numerous parking options. The concept combines entertainment, hotel, conference, and catering under one roof, providing guests and organizers with a seamless experience from arrival, event, and overnight stay. The large hall accommodates up to 9000 visitors depending on the setup, complemented by the kultBOX for club shows and the klassikBOX as a convertible concert hall. An amphitheater-like area is available for open-air highlights. You can conveniently purchase tickets online via seat plan or best seat booking, as well as at the local box office. Thanks to the direct connection to the 4-star hotel with 124 rooms, dining in the restaurant musics, and optional VIP lounges, comfort and service are noticeable from the very first minute.
Events, Program, and Tickets in the bigBOX ALLGÄU
The program of the bigBOX ALLGÄU covers the entire range of modern live culture. Whether large pop and rock concerts, international musicals, classical and brass music evenings, comedy and cabaret, theater, family shows, or poetry slams – the hall is designed for various formats. You can find the current schedule on the official website of the venue; events are clearly listed with date, start time, category, and hall information. Depending on the show, you can choose between standing area, pure seating, or mixed variants with parquet, grandstands, and gallery. Ticket purchases are made in the in-house webshop. You can either choose the best seat booking, which is specifically recommended for users with screen readers or keyboard navigation, or you can open the interactive seat plan and visually select your seats. Both options are directly integrated into the event pages, so information on times, entry, seat categories, and prices are transparently compiled. Additionally, the venue operates a ticket sales point on-site and offers telephone ordering through the published hotline; upon request, postal delivery is also possible, with a processing fee depending on the type of ticket and delivery country. For those who don't want to miss anything, signing up for the event newsletter is worthwhile. The virtual tour is also practical, allowing you to get a preview of access points, foyers, bar areas, and the view of the stage. The offer is complemented by lounges with their own catering and separate access. The VIP lounges can be booked for events in the large hall, offering the best view and comfortable seating groups, and include a freshly prepared gourmet buffet in the complete package; drinks are billed according to consumption. Important: For concerts in the kultBOX, the lounges remain closed, as they are structurally part of the large hall. Overall, the ticket and program structure is designed to make the visit as easy as possible – from quick checkout in the webshop to pickup at the box office.
Parking and Access: Forum Allgäu, Parking Garages, Opening Hours
Due to its location in the city center, getting there is easy and parking is predictable. The Forum Allgäu parking garage directly opposite the bigBOX ALLGÄU is recommended. It offers around 1000 parking spaces on multiple levels and has an entrance height of 2.05 meters. Extended opening hours apply during events: Parking is generally available from about 90 minutes before the event starts until 90 minutes after it ends. Particularly attractive is the event price of 4.00 euros for show and concert visitors; you can validate your parking ticket at the machines in the basement of the bigBOX before the show to avoid waiting times after the event. The parking garage also designates 30 barrier-free parking spaces per level, and there is an option for a parking value card with bonuses, suitable for frequent visitors. Hotel guests benefit from a separate rate of 9.00 euros per night; for this, the ticket is validated at the reception and is valid for the entire stay. Additional parking options within a few minutes' walk include the parking lot at the Allgäu-Halle, the parking garage at the Colosseum, the underground garage K&L-Ruppert, the underground garage Zentralhaus, and the parking garage Allgäu Center, which is also open until after the event on event days. Those arriving by train can get off at Kempten main station and walk about 15 minutes, covering a distance of about 800 meters. For public transport, the bus stops Kotterner Str. C&A, Kotterner Str. Vocational School Center, and Forum Allgäu are located directly or near the venue. There is also a long-distance bus stop right next to the bigBOX. For navigation, enter Kotterner Straße 64 in 87435 Kempten as your destination. This ensures a relaxed arrival without detours – and thanks to the large number of parking spaces and the event opening hours, you can quickly exit the parking garage after the show.
Seating Plan, Seats, and Lounges: How to Find the Best Seat
The bigBOX ALLGÄU is designed for optimal visibility and flexible seating options. Depending on the production, parquet areas, rising grandstands, and the surrounding gallery are opened. In standing areas, the stage is positioned close to the audience, while seated shows offer comfortable rows of seats with wide aisles and well-marked sectors. You can view the individual seating plan directly on the respective event page; there, you can see which zones are activated and in which blocks availability still exists. Those who prefer to book without graphical representation or use assistive technologies can choose the best seat function, which is optimized for accessibility. The VIP lounges are the premium offering for those seeking an experience with maximum comfort. They are located at an ideal sight height, feature a front balcony with separate chairs, an interior seating area, and provide access to a freshly prepared gourmet buffet. Drinks are billed according to consumption. Access is particularly convenient through a separate VIP entrance via the connected hotel, minimizing waiting times and shortening distances. For family and group visits, lounges with eight or ten seats are available; individual seats can also be offered, depending on the event. In the kultBOX as a club room, the lounges are not used, as they belong to the large hall. Tip for seat selection: If you are looking for proximity to the stage, choose the front parquet; for a comprehensive view, the middle to rear grandstand blocks are suitable. In seated comedy or cabaret evenings, central rows with a frontal view are popular; in rock and pop shows with standing areas, the interior impresses with closeness and energy. All information regarding the opening of blocks, sight lines, and entry times is provided for each event and supplemented on-site by the service staff.
Capacity and Rooms: bigBOX, klassikBOX, and kultBOX
The large hall of the bigBOX ALLGÄU is the heart of the venue. It offers maximum flexibility and state-of-the-art technology for shows, concerts, and corporate events. In full expansion, the room accommodates up to 9000 standing visitors; with seating, nearly 3900 seats are possible. The hall geometry with parquet, grandstands, gallery, and optional lounges allows for diverse setups from intimate acoustic shows to large arena productions. A comprehensive rigging level at 17 meters height and variable stage areas enable TV and video-compatible setups. For classical concerts, the klassikBOX is set up – a room-in-room concept that transforms the hall into a concert hall with up to 1476 seats. Acoustically, the klassikBOX is tuned to concert hall level; variable sound sails, elaborate ceiling and wall hangings, and a special floor covering ensure a clear, natural sound with balanced reverberation time. The kultBOX is available as a club stage. It offers up to 1000 standing or 734 seated guests on approximately 460 square meters and is ideal for club concerts, readings, cabaret, parties, and smaller productions. The kultBOX scores with an approachable atmosphere, flexible grandstands, and a foyer bar that also ensures short distances during club shows. The room offer is complemented by the skyBOX as a separate event room for up to 200 guests, as well as extensive backstage and seminar areas with over 20 rooms. Historically, the bigBOX ALLGÄU has been one of the most important halls in the region since 2003; concerts have reached peak visitor numbers of well over 8000 guests. This range shows that the venue provides the right stage for both large tour productions and special acoustic formats and club proximity.
Open Air in Kempten: Amphitheater Flair in the Open Air
In addition to the indoor rooms, the bigBOX ALLGÄU operates its own open-air area in Kempten. The area is designed amphitheatrically, ensuring visibility and acoustics from all seats. Depending on stage and site planning, open-air concerts and festivals with up to 4000 visitors are possible. The proximity to the city center, the direct connection to the hall infrastructure, and the attached hotel facilitate logistics for artists, crews, and visitors. An advantage is the short distance to backstage and hospitality areas, which can eliminate the need for separate artist shuttles. For the audience, this means: central location, good accessibility, and parking options in the immediate vicinity. The site is barrier-free accessible; barrier-free restrooms are available, and a companion may participate free of charge upon appropriate proof. Open-air events generally take place even in rain; in the event of severe weather, the situation will be assessed with the authorities, and appropriate communication will follow. Rain ponchos are available on-site. Ticket sales for open-air shows run as usual through the venue's webshop and at the box office. Due to the special site plans, the zones and sight lines differ depending on the production; all relevant information regarding entry, area structure, gastronomy, and safety regulations can be found on the respective event pages. Here, too, thanks to the urban location, public transport and walking paths are short, allowing for a relaxed arrival and departure.
Hotel Next to the Hall: 4 Stars, 124 Rooms, Short Distances
Directly connected to the event venue is the 4-star bigBOX ALLGÄU Hotel. With 124 rooms in several categories – including barrier-free rooms, family rooms with connecting doors, and particularly spacious variants – it is ideal for event guests, business travelers, and vacationers. All rooms are air-conditioned, and free high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the house. The location next to the hall and the Forum Allgäu makes distances extremely short: From the room, you can reach the foyer, lounge level, or directly to the separate VIP entrance via short connections. For lounge guests, access through the hotel is particularly comfortable. The restaurant musics on the ground floor offers modern cuisine; additionally, the service team supplies the foyers with drinks and snacks during events. For meetings and seminars, additional rooms and technology are available in the Conference area. When arriving by car, hotel guests use the Forum Allgäu parking garage at a special rate of 9.00 euros per night; validation occurs at the reception and is valid for the entire stay. The hotel is also only about 800 meters from the main train station, making it easily accessible on foot. Thus, the combination of event venue and hotel offers a comprehensive package that unites everything from ticket booking to arrival and overnight stay in one place.

The hotel is also only about 800 meters from the main train station, making it easily accessible on foot. Thus, the combination of event venue and hotel offers a comprehensive package that unites everything from ticket booking to arrival and overnight stay in one place.

I attended the Seiler and Speer concert at the BigBOX Allgäu and was pleasantly surprised all around. The entire venue feels modern, well-organized, and extremely inviting. I especially noticed the consistently friendly and helpful staff. You feel at home right away! The location couldn't be more central: Right across is the Forum Allgäu with numerous restaurants and a large supermarket, and the city center of Kempten is just a few minutes' walk away. The concert hall itself is truly impressive – plenty of seating, a cool standing area, and enough kiosks ensure that you can quickly and easily get drinks. A funny detail that I particularly liked: The escalators lead directly to the restrooms. Also, the direct transition from the hotel to the BigBOX is a huge plus. With the ticket, you can go directly from your room to the hall, so you can comfortably leave your jackets in the room – especially a real comfort gain for winter concerts. After the concert, we visited the bar. Even though it was quite full, the service was super friendly and quick. Overall, the entire stay was exceptionally positive. The combination of hotel, concert, and subsequent bar visit was a really great experience that I can recommend to everyone. I will definitely be back – even the trip from Munich is worth it! I also find the parking options particularly fair: At the Forum Allgäu, you can park for just 9 euros for two days (concert day + following day) – unbeatable! For me, the price-performance ratio here is absolutely right.

I attended Martina Schwarzmann. Overall, it was very nice. The hall is beautiful. The catering worked well. The sanitary facilities are clean and the queue was okay. Everything at the cloakroom went smoothly as well. I only had problems with the acoustics. I often had a hard time understanding the artist. It wasn't due to the dialect. At other events, I had always understood her very well. Another negative for me was that there were no reserved seats. You have to be there 1.5 hours before the event starts to get a decent spot. I prefer to choose my seat when buying and then arrive stress-free.

Martina Schwarzmann was absolutely amazing! However, the concept of free seating is just frustrating. Entry starts at 6:30 PM for an event that begins at 8 PM. You’re already standing outside in the cold in a long line before 6:30 to get a somewhat decent seat. Then you can spend your time inside with soggy bagels and sausages with bread at too few standing tables if you want to eat something. The organizer could definitely do much better with that.

I don't even know where to start.... I have rarely experienced such a harmonious team in a hotel. You arrive and feel the calm and friendliness that is extended to you. Starting with the very friendly and attentive breakfast angels, where no wishes are left unfulfilled. The buffet is perfect, clean, and always well-stocked. The same goes for the restaurant.... friendly and attentive.... a special shoutout to the young lady who has her bar completely under control (Evelyn).... you all stay calm.... the cleanliness in the room is also perfect... These ladies deserve praise too. And finally, the kitchen team.... Top.... I can judge it.... I was a restaurant manager.... housekeeper... breakfast manager and train apprentices.... Stay as you are... a perfect and well-coordinated team.... I have already booked my next vacation.... Until then, Heike Zock

Overall, bigBox and kultBox are great venues for events of all kinds. Whether it's a trade fair, boxing match, comedy, classical, pop, or rock concert, all the events I've attended have always been successful. The multifunctionality is, in my opinion, unmatched in the surrounding area. Entry and ticket control run smoothly, the staff is friendly and helpful, everything is clean. If the sound or coordination isn’t optimal, you can’t blame the venue for that. It happens in the largest and most modern halls and even in stadiums. However, what I have to criticize repeatedly is the catering. It has never worked well since the beginning and should finally be fundamentally reconsidered after all these years. If, at the end of the break, there are still many people waiting to get drinks with 3000 visitors, that is unacceptable. Others can really do better and are also more flexible regarding the offerings.
